HSO presents a rich program of rare and captivating works in Five Days Five Nights. Elizabeth Sellars (violin) and Molly Kadarauch (cello) join HSO for the first time to perform Brahms’ sumptuous Double Concerto. Shostakovich’s music for 1961 film, Five Days, Five Nights, follows the story of soldiers at the end of World War II saving famous paintings missing from Dresden’s Old Masters Picture Gallery through the ruins of Zwinger Palace. His music blends sympathy for all victims of war with hope for the future, building on themes from Beethoven’s Choral Symphony. Works by Arnold, Daugherty and Barry continue HSO’s love of the cinematic and the bold. Join us as we bring these vivid stories to life!
